About Sophie

Sophie Piesse, our Principal Architect, has been a dedicated presence in Carrboro, NC since 1996. She has successfully managed the design, permitting, and construction of over 500 home projects. These projects range from minor remodels to extensive renovations and new homes across Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, Orange County, Chatham County, Alamance County, Durham, Raleigh, and West End.

Sophie's architectural journey began in Australia, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Deakin University in Geelong, Victoria. She furthered her education with an exchange year at North Carolina State University, later returning to Australia to complete her Master of Architecture.

While Sophie gained experience in commercial architecture firms in Australia, it was during Gail Lindsey's studio class at NCSU that she discovered her passion for sustainable residential design. Sophie is committed to creating designs that reflect the unique needs and personalities of her clients while also considering the environmental impact of her work. Her aim is to integrate the benefits of the natural environment into her projects, giving back as much as possible.

When Sophie is not designing, you will find her working on her land/home, doing yoga, Taekwondo, or planning/going on her next travel adventure!

About Luisa

Luisa Pedrosa grew up in Colombia, South America and received her Bachelor’s of Architecture from the Universidad del Valle, in Cali, Colombia. Her passion for art, design and nature was cultivated by living with artistic parents in the tropical mountains outside of Cali.

Luisa came to the United States and to North Carolina with a work-study program in 2002 and was attracted by the sense of community in Carrboro.  After working as an architect in Colombia for a couple of years she returned to Carrboro where she has collaborated with several local architecture firms since 2005. The diversity and design sensitivity encouraged her to establish roots and raise her children here.

The opportunity to transform an idea, a dream, an image into a final product that will be enjoyed every day is her motivation to follow this path.

Luisa and her family live in the Pacifica co-housing community in Carrboro.
